The Japanese Society for Vaccinology (JSV) has designated Vaccine, published by Elsevier,
as its official journal. Under this arrangement, JSV pays an annual fee and is granted
approximately 50 pages per year in the journal.

The JSV pages in Vaccine are intended for the publication of material introducing the
activities of the Society, manuscripts related to the Takahashi Award and the
Takahashi Encouragement Award (Young Investigator Award), and papers that merit
dissemination to an international audience, including those addressing vaccine policy
issues specific to Japan, as well as basic research, epidemiological studies,
clinical trials, and other vaccine-related research conducted in Japan.

In particular, this framework is intended to provide publication opportunities for
original articles based on robust research conducted in Japan that may otherwise be
regarded as lacking sufficient novelty simply because the introduction of certain
vaccines in Japan has occurred later than in other countries.

All manuscripts submitted through the JSV pages are first assessed by the JSV Editorial
Committee for Vaccine to determine whether submission through this route is appropriate.
Manuscripts deemed appropriate are then peer-reviewed by experts in the relevant field.
Only manuscripts judged to satisfy the submission requirements are forwarded to the
Editor of Vaccine for final consideration, after which accepted papers are published in the journal.

The criteria for determining whether a manuscript is appropriate for submission through
the JSV pages are as follows:

  1. The manuscript complies with the Instructions for Authors of Vaccine.
  2. The reason for submission through the JSV pages is clearly stated. Manuscripts
that would be equally appropriate for direct submission to Vaccine will not be
    accepted through this route.
  3. The manuscript has not previously been submitted to Vaccine.
